Warm & Soothing Drinks

Raw Almond Milk
Chai Tea

Here is a great solution to half and half
Today at Whole Foods, get some raw almonds from the bulk section and a couple of medjool dates from the produce dept (ask for a couple and they will make a smaller package for you).    You can also get both of these at Costco in a bigger volume.

Tonight, when you get home, take 1 cup or almonds and 2 dates and cover them with water (together) and let them sit on your counter.

Tomorrow morning, when you get up, rinse them off.  Put them in your blender and add 4 cups of filtered water to the blender and blend them at high speed until the almonds and dates are completely ground up. Water ratio is 1 almond to 4 water.

Now put a piece of cheese cloth in a strainer or if you don't have that use a clean kitchen towel.  Put it over a pitcher or jar and pour the almond/date mixture through the strainer.  You may want to do it two times, the second time will get rid of the foam.

You will have delicious almond milk that has the richness of half and half.  Put in coffee or steam like regular milk and make a latte.  Use agave nectar and/or stevia for sweetness.

The milk will last up to a week.  It will separate but just shake it up and it will be great!

To make a chai latte:
Warm the fresh almond milk in a pan on the stove or steam on your coffee maker.  Put a chai tea bag in the warm milk, add water as desired and 1 tsp raw honey or raw agave nectar.
